Nicole’s 7th Birthday
My Mom always made birthdays a really special occasion. The whole day was special in every way should could think to make it special and I always try to do the same for my kids.
Since Nicole loves “The Rainbow Queen” so much, I thought it would be nice if she got some rainbow clothes fro her to wear to school on her birthday:
She choose french toast for breakfast, but I was so busy making and serving it to everyone that I didn’t get any pictures of her eating her birthday breakfast. After breakfast, Nicole and I made this rainbow crown for her to wear to school on her birthday:
I volunteered in Nicole’s class for an hour before lunch because she is always so happy when I come in.
Then I took her to pick up her Dad and go to lunch. She wanted buttered noodles, so we went to Olive Garden. We had a nice lunch. While Zach was in the bathroom, Nicole turned around to tell the lady behind us that it is her birthday. She also told announced that it was her birthday to everyone the moment we walked in.
When we took Zach back to work, we stopped in to have frozen yogurt with him and he showed Nicole his desk. She got the idea that it was his school and kept asked questions about his teacher.
These were Nicole’s birthday invitations. When I made them there was only a 10% chance of rain, but I noticed that the weather prediction had jumped to 80% a few days before her birthday.
I felt a little foolish as I set up under the pavilion in the rain. I brought art supplies and games that could be played under the pavilion. Luckily the sun came out just after the party started.
We had several kinds of crackers, cheeses, fruit, and snow cones.
This is Nicole with her teacher:
I sent all the bigger kids out with towels to dry off the playground before the other kids ran out to play. This was one of Nicole’s favorite things to do on the playground.
I wish I had a picture of the whole group of kids who came, but we had a really good turnout. The kids really enjoyed playing this pile-up game on the slide:
Nicole had the best reaction to every present. She loved them all and they were all perfect for her.
When we got home from the park, she opened gifts from the family while wearing some of the gifts from her friends.
Then we picked up pizza and took it to a park.
The rain came back. It started pouring while we were at the park.
We finished the day off with cake and cupcakes with the family.
It was a perfect birthday for Nicole. She absolutely loved every part.
