Charlotte at 10

Charlotte is my biggest animal lover.  She loves every kind of animal and spends large amounts of time petting any cat she meets.  She participated in a campaign with her father to try to talk me into allowing them to get pet rats.  I never really agreed, but somehow we now have pet rats.  Charlotte loves to hold the rats and pet them.  She especially loves when they crawl all over her.  On her Christmas list she wrote “a new pet.”DSC03170

Charlotte is in the 4th grade this year and is enjoying learning about Utah history in school. Math is her best subject, her teacher was impressed that she got a 4 on some special pretest they took at the beginning of the year (the goal is to get a 3 by the end of the year, 4 is the highest possible score).  Charlotte has signed up to participate in the knowledge bowl this year and is excited that the topic is science.  I’m a little concerned about her ability to get up in time for the 8 AM study sessions, but we’ll see how it goes.

Cochran, Kathleen 10-21-15-47Charlotte has continued to take piano lessons and is doing well.  She is almost ready to move on to the next level of piano books.  A more musically inclined person would probably have some more specific things to write about her skills, but all I can tell you is that she can play with both hands, use a sustain pedal, and memorize her songs.  I think she’s improving on her rhythm too.Cochran, Kathleen 10-21-15-44

Charlotte really values spending time with friends.  She spends most of her time with “the friendship club,” which is composed of Charlotte, Ila, and Lucie (the neighbor).  Allyssa is still her best friend, although they are in different classes this year so they don’t get as much time to spend together.  Charlotte has set a goal to make some new friends in her class, but usually ends up spending every recess with Allyssa and a few other friends from another class.9.4.15 (5)

Charlotte and some of her school friends are really interested in dragons lately.  I think there is a book series that has inspired this interest.  I have been finding doodles of dragons all over the house.IMAG0906

Charlotte still loves doing art.  Her sketching and painting skills have improved much this last year.

Charlotte still loves the Diary of a Wimpy kid series and has reread some of the books over and over to the point where she had memorized parts of them.  She has enjoyed a few other series as well and is currently reading the second book int he May Bird series.

Charlotte used her allowance to buy a set of roller blades.  She loves to skate and spent most of the summer with wheels attached to her feet.
