My grandma had an orchard with half a dozen kinds of trees and she'd always send us dried fruit. I loved her dried pears so much, I insisted we use some of our wedding gift cards to buy a dehydrator.

We've used it four times, tops. Still haven't gotten close to grandma's recipe. Maybe we need a pear tree ;) .

(Side note: Alton Brown actually recommended using clean air conditioning filters bungee corded to the back side of a box fan to dry fruit. No kidding—he said that the heat a dehydrator uses actually cooks the fruit, so that method was better. Haven't had the courage to try it ;) .)

i usually try to arrange my grocery shopping trips so that steve can watch 2 of the boys while i take one and so it becomes a mommy date to the store. also, the baby usually sleeps in the latest, so sometimes i get one of the boys up first so we have a few minutes together before the other one wakes up.

I often find my chores are being too endless, getting in the way of more important things like spending time with my boys. Sometimes I find I've caged my boys inside on a sunny day because I couldn't get my chores done (in rainy Oregon that's a carnal sin). So the house will be messy and we go to the park or I take a good break from my chores and play with the boys on the bed. They love playing on the bed. We play squash and jump off of each other and we play "tree" and there's tickling and tripping and pillow fights. I only have two; Levi takes naps and Josh goes to school, so it's not as hard to get one on one time with them. We really like cooking together. I'm also learning how to wear Levi so we can have time together as I go about my day. :)

Then, remember that time on I-75 when we were stuck in traffic and nature called mom to the woods. We made a sign about that too. Poor mom, motherhood is so embarrassing.

seriously, if you wrote a detailed description of your days for like the next week or two i would read every one of them! i find how other mothers get through each day fascinating and the more details the better! it makes me feel more normal to read your day and see the similarities to mine (i'm so impressed though how little tv or video games your kids watch/play! that is the big time filler at my house, my crutch if you will...). you are such a good momma, i know if i described my day like that it would have included a lot more yelling. lol.

I'm not sure how you do it either. I'm sure the cute things your kids do help though. Olympics FHE sounds fun, what "sports" did they do?

I was surprised how quickly you were done watching the game--you didn't watch too much, I just used that time as an opportunity to write. Also you do help a lot with the kids, you're just not home most of the day. I sometimes do the shopping because I'd rather have you home with us. Besides, the girls were perfect so it wasn't a hard thing to do yesterday.

Between 5:40 and 8:00 Zach motivated Charlotte to get dressed, ate dinner with the family, took care of Ila and Nicole while we did dishes, conducted family night and taught the lesson, led the kids in Olympic events, and initiated family prayer, read scriptures and stories to Isaac and Charlotte and sent them to bed. Then listed items for sale after they went to bed--That's a lot for 2 hours and 20 minutes after working all day. You're amazing and I love you.

So I thought I should clarify that I only got to watch about 20 minutes of highlights of the Jazz game, which I recorded last night. I don't want anyone to think I shirk more than I actually do =).

Also, I usually do the shopping so Kathleen doesn't have to.

That is adorable! I like that Nicole is wide awake. She is so cute, but that's natural with your kids. I can't wait to meet her and Ila and play with your children. I love how their personalities are expressed in their mid-night photos.
