Charlotte the Chef

All of my girls love to bake and cook with their mom and I have been trying to find ways to spend more quality time with each of my kids, so I decided that it was time for Charlotte to do more than just pour in what I measured.  I set up our area and got out all the ingredients:IMG_9303As soon as Charlotte came home from school, we got started.  She read the recipe:IMG_9305

She had to figure out which measuring things to use and do the measuring and the pouring:IMG_9320I even let her crack eggs for the first time:IMG_9313We made analogies about all the ingredients and kids waking up in the morning.  Charlotte is like the shortening, she’s the hardest one to wake up in the morning.  We decided the Ila could be the molasses because she’s fairly easy to wake up, but you have to be careful because if you wake her up wrong, she wakes up very grumpy:IMG_9315Soon, everyone wanted to help, but Charlotte still took the lead:IMG_9324IMG_9323Adding pumpkin and dry ingredients “alternately”:IMG_9328Charlotte absolutely loved the experience.  She proudly proclaimed that she made the cookies “all by myself."

She loved the experience so much that, she wants to make every meal everyday.  Last night she helped me with poppy seed chicken and rice:IMG_9366And today she’s helping her dad with the turkey:IMG_9384
