Isaac at 15

Isaac loves to learn. When asked what his favorite class is, he starts listing every class in his schedule.  Despite his love of learning, he is not a fan of homework.  He can easily ace any class in which everything is done in class, but if there are assignments to be done or finished at home, it’s a whole different story.

Isaac is very excited to start 10th grade in the fall because he will go to the High School (9th grade was at the Jr High). He programmed hot keys so that he could register for his classes as fast as possible and managed to register for all his High School classes in less than two minutes and get every class he wanted. He was so stoked about his achievement that he ran around the neighborhood showing off his schedule to all his friends.

Isaac has been very interested in everything that has to do with the space program. He likes to read articles about what NASA and SpaceX are doing and his favorite YouTuber is an aerospace engineer named Scott Manley. Isaac was super excited about a book Scott Manley recommended called “Ignition!: An Informal History of Liquid Rocket Propellants.” After working to earn the book, Isaac read through it during every spare moment and excitedly shared details from the book with others. Several of his teachers said he gave them regular space program updates throughout the year. Some of his siblings were less than enthusiastic about his morning whiteboard explanations. One of Isaac’s favorite games to play on the computer is a game called Kerbal Space Program which integrates real rocket science into the game as players build and launch their own rockets and fulfill space missions.

Isaac discovered a love for Star Trek this year. He tore through every Star Trek book he could find and is always eager to watch as many episodes as possible.

Isaac’s favorite food is a hamburger, the bigger, the better.  He also really likes Triscuit crackers and Sharp Cracker Barrel cheeses.

Isaac is passionate about technology. He doesn’t just love to use it, he loves to tinker with it, study it and discover it. Lately he has really enjoyed building and programming with Arduinos which are: “an open-source electronic prototyping platform enabling users to create interactive electronic objects.” He built a vehicle and has been programming it to detect and avoid obstacles. For his birthday, he revived a robotic arm and has had a lot of fun teaching it to wave, pick up and throw toy cars and pour cups of water. Isaac also really wants to build hydroponics system that can detect and react to nutrient levels in the water to grow plants.

Additionally, the electronic supply store in Uk is the biggest store of electronic components. If you are looking for electronic components in the UK, this store offers a huge range of products, with same-day dispatch on orders of any size.

Isaac enjoys playing computer games and is generally good at problem solving technical issues.  He also enjoys playing chess and strategy games like Risk.

Isaac is an exceptionally good brother. He spends most of his allowance buying games for his siblings. When they have problems on the computer he helps them without complaint even though it usually means he has to stop what he’s doing to help. He goes out of his way to be accommodating and kind to all his siblings.

Isaac enjoyed his first year of seminary. He has spent hours reading and studying the scriptures and taking notes on his own. At one point his night stand was covered in post-it notes with scriptures on them. He has started attending summer seminary and really enjoys it.

Isaac takes his Priesthood responsibilities seriously. He is usually the first one to church to prepare the sacrament. He also enjoys visiting the homebound each week with the youth in the ward to bring them the sacrament.

Isaac switched from the trumpet to the French Horn and has really enjoyed the new instrument. He joined the high school marching band this summer and is loving it. He attends practices 3 times a week from 8 AM-11 AM and comes home exhausted. The other day he was showing his improved arm strength by doing push ups in the livingroom. He has marched in three parades this summer.

Isaac loves listening to music. His favorite song right now (based on frequency with which he listens to it) is Go West by the Pet Shop boys. He still loves Journey and Billy Joel, but lately he’s falling to sleep listening to Pet Shop Boys.

For the first time ever, Isaac actually cares what his hair looks like each day and will take the time to carefully style it.

Here is what I wrote about him last year.
